'The People vs. O.J. Simpson' wins Emmy for Limited Series, just about everything else
LOS ANGELES -- This verdict was near-unanimous.
The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Storywas as resounding winner at the Emmys on Sunday night, including Best Limited Series -- a surprise to no one after what had recently become the most electrifying and popular television miniseries to grace this golden age of television.
Who here thought a Ryan Murphy-produced miniseries about the Trial of the Century on FX would be this good? Against all expectations, it was -- and it was richly rewarded.

Moments before, Sterling K. Brown won for Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for his emotionally shattered turn as Christopher Darden.
"A lot of you may not have known who I was, but you checked the box anyway," Brown said. "And that makes me very very happy. To the communities who supported me ... there's a lot of people in St. Louis making a lot of noise right now. Momma! I can hear you!"

The one major category it didn't win: Limited-series directing, which went to Susanne Bier for The Night Manager.
