Arshad Nadeem receives Hilal
President Asif Ali Zardari has conferred the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz on Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem in a special ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The award was presented to Arshad Nadeem in recognition of his extraordinary achievement at the Paris Olympics, where he set a world record by throwing the javelin 92.97 metres, securing Pakistan’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in the event.
His thro helped Pakistan earn its first individual gold and its first Olympic gold in 40 years.
The ceremony, which was broadcast live, highlighted the significance of Nadeem's accomplishment.
His historic performance has brought immense pride to the nation, and the government of Pakistan announced the Hilal-e-Imtiaz to honour his contribution to sports.
Nadeem’s record-breaking throw has not only etched his name in the annals of Olympic history but has also raised Pakistan’s profile on the global sports stage.
